Long Tail Keywords

Example:

dog agility training equipment
electronic dog training collar
search and rescue dog training

Keywords that more specifically describe a product or information request. Since long tail keywords are typically less competitive they are not as difficult to rank compared to the core term. Long tail keywords convert better since they more specifically describe a product or information request.

Keyword Optimization
The art of selecting the best related keywords to create copy that attracts and converts visitors. The copy must be concise enough and written with the visitor in mind. Related keywords, with search engine demand, are included in the text to provide topical reference that will indicate what the page is about to the search engine.

How many times have I heard I can't rank for my main keyword....
The worst thing a new domain, or one without authority, can do is to try to rank for the most competitive keywords within their niche. More traffic is available using long tail keywords than core terms and they are the ones to target in order to begin the process of building domain authority.

When long tail keywords, also known as low hanging fruit, for a page have been identified, synonym's and related keywords should be included where possible to really help search engines identify the topic and for a slight boost in ranking.

Never sacrifice copy to please a search engine. Write copy for the visitor and to convert traffic. This is the goal of search engine optimization for any domain.

Nice Post,

Certainly found long tail more successful, takes less time, less cost to a client and produces a much higher ROI all round win, just a headache managing hundreds of long tail search terms!
