IV. Cleaning Up Your Blog

Now that we’ve set up your blog there are a few things we need to modify slightly. These are mainly to improve the visual effect of your blog.

To begin click on Links and the left hand navigation bar and then Edit. You can delete all of these links as they aren’t of any use to people who will visit your site.

To delete the links you can either click each box next to the name and then pull down the Bulk Actions menu bar or scroll over each name and hit the Delete option that will appear underneath.

Similarly you can also delete Pages this way. You may have an empty About page, this can be deleted.

Now that you have completed editing your links and pages, click on Appearance and then Widgets.

Depending on the theme you picked earlier there may be one or more widgets already selected (this is shown on the right hand side). I would recommend that you use four widgets, in the order specified below.

• Search
• Links
• Recent Posts
• Archives

If you don’t have them set up this way already you can simply drag them from the list of Available Widgets to the Sidebar.

You will also want to turn off comments. While good comments add value unfortunately there are a lot of spammers out there who just wish to post “Thank you” and a link to their site. Turning them off is the better option as it saves wasted time and effort on your part.

To do this, go to Settings and then Discussion. In the first set of three options will be “Allow people to post comments on articles”. Take the tick off this box by clicking on it.

You are now finished cleaning up your blog…it’s time to start the money making process!
